Akkaravadisal is a traditional Iyengar's recipe. Sarkarai pongal and akkaravadisal almost the same The only difference is the rice is completely.cooked in milk. . Instead of jaggery make with sugar. In Margazhi month, We get akkaravadisal as prasadam at Ahobil matt Chembur. Very tasty.

Ingredients
- Rice...................................1cup
- Split Moong Dhal................2 tbsp
- Jaggery...............................2cups
- Milk...................................4 cups
- Pacha Karpooram..............a pinch
- Cardamom Powder.............1/4 tsp
- Ghee....................................3tbsp
- Raisins..................................2 tbsp
- Cashew nuts.........................2 tbsp
- Saffron..................................a pinch
Method
- Wash the rice and dhal
- Boil the milk , add rice and dhal.
- Cook them till they become tender
- Boil less water add the jaggery.
- Filter the syrup and add to the cooked rice.
- Roast the nuts and raisins, add to the rice
- Add cardamom powder and pacha karpooram and mix well
- You can cook the rice and dhal in pressure cooker.
- Instead of jaggery use sugar.
- Add more ghee to give extra taste.

We prepare Nai Appam, Murukku, Vella Cheedai, Uppu cheedai, sweet Aval and Payasam We decorate the idol and put rangoli and steps.We wait Lord krishna to arrive at midnight and do arathi, recite slokas and do arathi.

Ingredients

Popcorn powder....... ..............2 small cups
- Powdered jaggery...................1cup
- Coarsely Powdered Nuts .......1cup
- Cardamom Powder.................A pinch
Method
- Make popcorn and powder it ( I coarsely powdered)
- Powder the nuts coarsely and mix all.
- Make a syrup with jaggery and 2 tbsp water.
- When it becomes one thread consistency add the powders.
- Add cardamom powder and mix well.Make small balls and keep.
